Saling The World: New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Modern Warfare 2 Top U.S. Charts

Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide.
This week's charts, with data taken from December 3rd, 2009, find New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 leading holiday sales in North America, as Phantasy Star Portable 2 heads multiplatform results in Japan.
Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows:
PlayStation 3
North America: 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (SCEA), 3. Assassin's Creed II (Ubisoft), 4. God of War Collection (SCEA), 5. Madden NFL 10 (EA Sports).
Japan: 1. Assassin's Creed II (Ubisoft), 2. World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010 (Konami), 3. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (Bethesda), 4. Uncharted: Ougontou to Kieta Sendan (SCEI), 5. Uncharted: El Dorado no Hihou -- PlayStation 3 the Best (SCEI).
UK: 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 2. Assassin's Creed II (Ubisoft), 3. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 4. Need for Speed: Shift (EA Games), 5. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (SCEE).
Uncharted 2 moves up several spots to finish at second place in domestic PS3 software sales. Modern Warfare 2 remains the platform's top seller, while the recently released God of War Collection finishes behind Assassin's Creed II at fourth place. Assassin's Creed II heads the Japanese charts, with last week's sales champion World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010 trailing close behind.
