David O'Rusell Denies "Uncharted" Movie Casting/Synopsis is Official

According to Joystiq, it seems that Mark Wahlberg being Nathan Drake and the whole “family dynamic” with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are just rumors.

“First of all, all that stuff was denied by David O. Russell,” Richmond (Uncharted 3 Game Director) said to Joystiq. “He actually called us up and was like, ‘I don’t know what these guys are talking about.’”

This was David’s response to the LA Times article. So is David saying that he never said that to the LA Times?

Joystiq adds “And Mark Wahlberg isn’t anywhere near to being confirmed to play Nathan Drake either — it’s just Hollywood scuttlebutt, apparently”

So I’m guessing that the video interview with Mark Wahlberg is just him talking out of his ass about his and his “family dynamic” involvements in the movie.

Of course I’m happy that to hear that Mark Wahlberg and the whole family dynamic are just rumors, but something doesn’t feel right about this. I feel like maybe David O. Russell is pulling a big prank on all of us, including telling Richmond he doesn’t know what Mark Wahlberg or The LA Times are talking about.
