Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Extended E3 2015 Demo

Naughty Dog has released the extended E3 gameplay walkthrough from their upcoming PS4 action adventure title Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. “Our E3 press conference demo literally left Drake hanging and with good cause. We wanted to give attendees of E3 a treat and show them if Sully and Drake ever caught up to Nathan’s brother, Sam, in time. The reaction was pretty fantastic”, said Naughty Dog in a statement. “Now, for everyone not able to see it at the show, for those who missed our Twitch broadcast earlier today, or for those who just want to watch it again and again, here it is.” Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End takes place several years after his last adventure. Now retired fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be careening into your living room in 2016. SOURCE

More Uncharted: Fight for Fortune Info Revealed, Campaign Length Will be 6-8 Hours

Earlier this morning, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune was confirmed to be hitting the PlayStation Vita on December 4th for $4.99. We covered a lot of information in the original news piece and posted a trailer of the game, but Chris Reese, Co-Studio Director at Bend Studio, took to the comments section of the PS Blog to reveal even more about FFF.

Here’s a rundown of all the tidbits, in full bullet point glory:

Uncharted: Golden Abyss – 15 mins of gameplay action

Sony’s shown off about 15 minutes worth of Uncharted: Golden Abyss, showing off some of the touch screen and touchpad capabilities for solving puzzles and climbing that I got to try with the game back at gamescom, as well as using traditional controls. Golden Abyss, made at Sony Bend, will be a launch title for the handheld when it releases in Japan on Saturday and in Europe and the US on February 22. [SOURCE]

‘Uncharted 3′ Multiplayer Map Features Dynamic Sandstorm

Better break out your sandstorm goggles for this new ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’ multiplayer footage because it’s going to get a bit dusty.

Some new Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception footage has popped up online that focuses on one of the new multiplayer levels that boasts a dynamic weather system to break up the monotony of play. Taken off-screen from what we’re guessing was Gamescom 2011, this Uncharted 3 multiplayer footage has us very excited to play more than just the beta levels of the game.

Unfortunately the real bummer is that the footage is narrated in German and features German subtitles – preventing any new details from being anything but gleaned. There aren’t any instances, besides the weather effect, that look too distinct from previous Uncharted maps, but it’s definitely worth checking out.

I don’t know if it’s because the footage is filmed off a television, or it’s been so long since I’ve seen some Uncharted 3 footage, but this multiplayer gameplay looks pretty stunning. The textures on the crumbled walls and players are particularly impressive.

This Week in Co-Op: Uncharted 3 with Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer

This week we kick off a brand new batch of This Week in Co-Op articles. Over the next two months we’re going to be bringing you a unique spin on our weekly feature, the Co-Opticrew are playing with various members of the gaming industry including developers, PR, journalists and podcasters.

This week I wrapped up the Uncharted 3 beta with Naughty Dog’s Community Manager, Arne Meyer. Arne’s job at Naughty Dog involves community outreach - that means managing the official blog and forums, Twitter, Facebook, and any other social connections involved. You’ll also see Arne posting from time to time on the Official PlayStation Blog.

I fired up my PS3 and joined Arne’s Uncharted 3 party only to find he couldn’t hear me. After some mucking around and testing it appears Uncharted 3 didn’t like my microphone, despite the PlayStation 3 self tests working just fine. I shot Arne an IM - "Lets just play."

Uncharted 3 Beta Numbers Smoke Competition, Best in PlayStation History

Summers are usually a dry time for the gaming industry, as developers and publishers tend to aim for releases during the beginning and end of yearly cycles, but we were in luck this time around. Naughty Dog has been treating PlayStation 3 owners with a beta for its upcoming blockbuster, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and boy has it been great. So much, in fact, that it’s become the most popular beta not only in recent memory, but EVER on a PlayStation platform.

Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer has posted a list of statistics following the conclusion of the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta.
  • Total unique Beta players: 1.53 million people
  • Total kills: 1.9 billion
  • Total Cash collected: 1.4 TRILLION dollars (that’s greater than the gross domestic product of Spain, the eleventh highest GDP in the world!)
  • Total shots fired: 48 billion
  • Total matches completed: 22 million
  • Total time played: More than 362 years worth of matches

The beta’s vast library of customizable items, from weapons and attachments to characters and outfits, are great additions to the series, and have made extended play more rewarding. Uncharted 2 had a tendency to reward infrequently, but was still able to keep thousands of fans entertained for months, so it’s no surprise that its successor’s beta has been extremely popular.

If you’re one of the 1.53 million gamers who played the beta, will you be purchasing the full product later this year?

Goodbye, Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta, You Taught Me Plenty

Naughty Dog pulled the plug on the Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception multiplayer beta this Friday. I was online, jumping from one round of Team Objective to another when those multiplayer servers went dark. I'll miss you, Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta, because I learned a lot during our three weeks together.

Having already fooled around with Uncharted 3's multiplayer component for hours in advance of the beta that spanned three weeks and was enjoyed by some 1.5 million players. I sampled brand new Three Team Deathmatch and Free For All modes back in April, exploring two of the maps (Chateau and Airstrip) featured in the widely played beta.

So, I spent much of my time in competitive modes like Plunder—the "capture the treasure" mode returning from Uncharted 2's multiplayer suite—and Team Objective, the newer, much improved highlight of Uncharted competitive multiplayer. I spent less time playing cooperative Hunter and Arena modes. I'll wait until more friends and colleagues on PSN (and Facebook) are playing alongside me. I sampled all of Uncharted 3's early multiplayer offerings, minus one, learning a few things along the way.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Multiplayer Beta Review

First up, we speak about the character customization options in the game which allows you to tailor almost every aspect of the characters that are classified either as ‘heroes’ or ‘villains’. The humorous taunts can be changed to anything from Laugh, Flex, Kiss, Flurry and our personal favourite – Dance. Like modifying your weapons? Uncharted 3 gives users a range of loadouts. But that’s not all. Leveling up the character lets you earn money useful for unlocking weapon mods like weapon accuracies, larger ammo clips, faster reload times etc. First time players may find it difficult to earn money, but once they do, it’s worth all they’ve played for. Treasures appear when certain players die and can be picked up to complete sets and unlock additional character customizations.

A unique Uncharted TV at the bottom right of the screen can be enlarged and watched while other players join in. Its content subsumes behind the scenes interviews, plays of the week and much more. And this we think is a nice addition to game considering the long time it takes to find players amongst so much traffic. Remember the Twitter integration in the previous game? Naughty Dog has done away with that. Instead there’s Facebook for sharing achievements directly from the game.

Uncharted 3 Beta Details Surface

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is going to have an unbelievable campaign. But don't forget about the promising multiplayer. When Naughty Dog puts their minds to something... A slew of new beta details have arrived, and that includes a start and end date, level cap, mods, medals, modes, maps and more. You can jump into the play test on June 28 if you purchase inFamous 2 or you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber; if not, you can start on July 4. The end date is July 13, though, so indulge while you can.

As for other info: the level cap will be 25, and there will be no less than 9 modes to test. That includes Team Deathmatch, Team Objective, High Stakes, and three co-op modes, so you can get a great idea of the multiplayer's diversity. There will be two multi-level maps (a French chateau and an airfield), a cool new addition called Power Plays (to help even things out), and a bunch of boosters. As for guns, the beta will feature the AK-47, G-Mal, and the Dragon Sniper, along with an assortment of pistols. Unsurprisingly, it seems the developers are going all out. You ready to test?

Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Menu Screen Hits Web

Naughty Dog Showing Uncharted 3 In The Louvre Museum

A reader sent us this image and at first, I didn't quite recognize the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris. And when I did, I had no idea why I had it in my inbox. I get a lot of bizarre things, everything from Chinese publishers wanting me to test their new Android game to political newsletters (don't ask me how we get on certain mailing lists), so I wasn't surprised...but I was confused. However, there was a link; it sent me to Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra's Twitter page, where it said:

Uncharted 3's multiplayer: Does the audience have too much say?

Uncharted 3's multiplayer beta is coming soon. Will player feedback hurt or help the game?

About midway through the campaign of the 2009 game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (UC2), the player is tasked with traversing an enemy-filled moving train as it passes through the forests of Nepal into the mountains of Tibet. If you play it, there will be moments where you’ll have to decide between shooting your attackers, diving to hang off the side of the train car you're on to avoid overpassing signs, or doing a combination of both at the same time. Soon after the beginning of the train sequence, you’ll have to make that decision under missile fire from an attacking helicopter as it indiscriminately blows the train apart.

The people at Naughty Dog (ND), developer of the Uncharted series, have voiced their desire [video] to carry over such cinematic set-pieces to the multiplayer portions its games in the Uncharted series (which is just set for UC2 for the time being; Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception [UC3] is due out in November). With the reveal of UC3’s multiplayer and its upcoming beta, it seems the company has followed through (i.e., the airstrip level in UC3’s multiplayer where players fight atop moving trucks behind an airplane, all hurtling down a runway). It’s all about how the parts add up to create an experience.
