Back in December we were told that there would be a new DLC for Uncharted 3 in January. Naughty Dog said that they were working on something, but were not prepared to elaborate on this, and we can see why. Fans of Uncharted 3 had best prepare themselves for some disappointment, as there will not be any single player DLC.

The updates will only be for co-op and multiplayer content, and the reason why is because they are now working hard on their next game. Now this does not mean Uncharted 4, it’s more than likely The Last of Us. The developers have said that they are still working on a patch to fix some of the issues that are still causing concern for players, but we have yet to learn when this will be ready.

Author's Disclaimer: I bring you a very interesting read for people who might not have gotten what Naughty Dog did with Uncharted 3. It's also a very strong reason as to why I love this game so much.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was, to put it mildly, pretty well-received. Less known for innovating and more known for wrapping all the elements of its gameplay and narrative into a sleek package, the title proved that on a purely technical level, being a master of all trades isn’t quite as important as bringing gameplay and narrative together in a seamless fashion. It was flawed, to be sure, but an impressive accomplishment.

So Naughty Dog had their work cut out for them with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. It was a game with enough pre-release hype that it felt like the months leading up to Metal Gear Solid 2 all over again. Drake’s Deception couldn’t possibly live up to the hype. To many, it did. To others, not so much. Naughty Dog’s ability to tell a story while seamlessly weaving it in and out of gameplay is still unparalleled. But the toned down story of Drake’s Deception itself meant that series-defining traits stood at odds with the story that needed to be told, versus the story that the some of its audience expected.

Okay, wow, not only did I think this game was coming out on the eleventh of November, the bloody thing has been out for eight days already. *cries* I am a bad moderator! (how I loathe RL and the The Immortals right now).

In other news Nate/Elena have a tumblr account now. So much Pretty for our OTP.

So really, as a means to appease, for those who've purchased the game:

STARTER QUESTIONS! (humor me):
  • What do you all think of it so far?
  • How is the story and the character progression/development?
  • Is Catherine Marlowe the definitive Uncharted villain or just better than her predecessors?
  • Is the Online + Multiplayer or Single Player campaign? improved over the previous?
  • The 3D? Was it worth it or not?

Overall if you want to use this thread to discuss or gush about the game, you can. Spoilers aren't outlawed, but if you feel the need to warn anyone just leave "SPOILER" in the subject bar of the comments. Apologies about the lack of activity, folks.

First up, we speak about the character customization options in the game which allows you to tailor almost every aspect of the characters that are classified either as ‘heroes’ or ‘villains’. The humorous taunts can be changed to anything from Laugh, Flex, Kiss, Flurry and our personal favourite – Dance. Like modifying your weapons? Uncharted 3 gives users a range of loadouts. But that’s not all. Leveling up the character lets you earn money useful for unlocking weapon mods like weapon accuracies, larger ammo clips, faster reload times etc. First time players may find it difficult to earn money, but once they do, it’s worth all they’ve played for. Treasures appear when certain players die and can be picked up to complete sets and unlock additional character customizations.

A unique Uncharted TV at the bottom right of the screen can be enlarged and watched while other players join in. Its content subsumes behind the scenes interviews, plays of the week and much more. And this we think is a nice addition to game considering the long time it takes to find players amongst so much traffic. Remember the Twitter integration in the previous game? Naughty Dog has done away with that. Instead there’s Facebook for sharing achievements directly from the game.

Naughty Dog has had "a lot of internal discussion" on whether it could support a cooperative mode within an Uncharted single-player campaign

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception recently had its competitive multiplayer modes revealed, but Naughty Dog has yet to divulge what it has in store for co-op. "Naturally, we’ve had a lot of internal discussions on how we could support cooperative play within the structure of our single-player campaign and if that was the right choice to make," Uncharted 3 game director Justin Richmond said in an exclusive interview with NowGamer.

Will we get to play as Sully in Drake's Deception?

Single-player campaign co-op could feature in Uncharted 3 if a new retail listing is anything to go by. Gamestop has Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception listed as having online multiplayer for 1-12 players, and online co-op for 1-3 players, which featured in Uncharted 2.

What's interesting, however, is the section 'Number of players' (completely separate from the online features) reads "1-2 players", perhaps suggesting campaign co-op could be on the cards. Obviously the most likely candidate to partner up with Drake is Sully, although Nate does like to switch his mates around a lot.

The first look at Uncharted 3 gameplay footage arrived on Earth last night, showing Nate and Sully getting a little hot under the collar. [SOURCE]

Co-op would be a fun feature. I know my siblings and I would get a major kick out of it...

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was a sensational game this generation. I think no one game has come closer to the level of action and storytelling that Among Thieves achieved. If you have a good memory, Uncharted 2 was first revealed at the VGA awards of 2008. You can check out the trailer in high definition below:

Sony confirms demo details.

August 13, 2009 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is one of the IGN PlayStation Team's favorite games on the PS3, so it should be obvious, then, that we're very excited for Uncharted 2. For gamers out there that are equally excited but haven't had the chance to play the multiplayer beta, a multiplayer demo is on the way -- but it sounds like there will be no single-player demo to go along with the multiplayer shenanigans.

Sony confirmed the Uncharted 2 demo details with IGN today. Producer Sam Thompson comments: "we've confirmed a multiplayer demo which will be released on September 15th. Those that have pre-ordered Uncharted 2: Among Thieves [through GameStop] will receive exclusive access for the first two weeks (9/15 - 9/29). The next two weeks (9/30/09 - 10/12/09) of the multiplayer Beta will be open to PSN users. We have not made any official announcements regarding a single-player demo at this time."

So if you were hoping to get a taste of the Uncharted 2 campaign, it looks like you'll be disappointed. But as our own Greg Miller notes: "you want a single-player demo? Play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune."

That settles that.
