If that's what ND was going for, then they completely failed Nate's character. U2 was about why Nate kept pushing himself even when he knew it was wise for him to duck out: because even though he is greedy and can be bought, he is a genuinely good person at heart. Thus, Nate keeps pushing himself on even when he says he's done with the "hero crap" so he can stop Lazarevic. This summary of U3's story makes Nate sound like an adrenaline junkie out to get his next fix, and sadly, it seems to be an accurate summary.
