Naughty Dog has downplayed the use of the Playstation Move for their upcoming PS3 exclusive Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Now they've confirmed that players won't be using Sony's motion controls for the highly anticipated game after giving it a try.

"A great Move game is a game made around Move, and we started Uncharted long before that," Naughty Dog's Co-President, Christophe Balestra tells Edge Magazine in an interview. "It would be very difficult for us to just adapt it. We tried a couple of things but it wasn't making a lot of sense."

This is understandable for a third-person cinematic action-adventure game that relies on a heavy dose of differing elements from shooting to platforming. Motion controls don't have a place in every game. The good news is that Uncharted 3 will definitely support Sony's other big PS3 feature bulletpoint, stereoscopic 3D. Naughty Dog recognizes that a 3D element fits the nature of their cinematic use of the camera. "We've always been aware of the camera with our game, and tried to make the game look really deep," says Lead Designer Justin Richmond. "So it does benefit what you do."

Uncharted 3 is scheduled to be released on November 1, 2011.

In a recent interview with gaming magazine EDGE, Naughty Dog has given away some tantalizing new information regarding Uncharted 3. Area’s covered include whether the game will support PlayStation Move, the story and a lot more. When asked if Uncharted 3 will support the move, the studio responded:

“A Great Move game is a game made around Move and we started Uncharted long before that. It would be very difficult for us to adjust it. We tried a couple of things but it wasn’t making a lot of sense.”

The series has long been known for its chaotic, often outrageous and desperate situations, such as being chased by a missile equipped helicopter whilst on a moving train! When questioned about the sorts of situations present in the new game, Evan Wells, co-president, had this to say:

Maybe you aren't fully checked out on all the PlayStation 3 exclusives scheduled for 2011. Maybe you'd like a list of the top 20, with brief descriptions for each...you know, so you can get your purchase plans in order.

The PlayStation Blog has posted up a list of 20 PlayStation 3 exclusives for this year, and that includes downloadable titles for the PlayStation Network (Journey tops our PSN "most anticipated" list) and PlayStation Move Heroes (check our new preview). Obviously, big-name games like Killzone 3, inFamous 2, Resistance 3, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception are there; these should be gigantic for Sony and the PS3.

It's also interesting to see those Ar Tonelico titles, along with the likes of Hyperdimension Neptunia; the JRPG genre on consoles has dropped off significantly this generation, but these experiences should open the eyes of fans of the sub-genre. Lastly, for the more artistic-minded, we can't overlook the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and The Last Guardian. You may also notice how many of the upcoming titles support both 3D and Move; Sony is really supporting both technologies. There appears to be something for everyone, doesn't there?

The only loser in this scenario is the wallet. Maybe you'll have to sacrifice getting that new car, or something.
