Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was my personal game of the year of 2009—as was the same for many other gamers—but I doubt many so vehemently defended their opinions on the matter as I did. Those that told me Assassin’s Creed II was the better game got a fair amount of words sent their way, those that told me Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were physically abused, and those that told me Batman: Arkham Asylum only got a thoughtful look and shoulder shrug because that was actually my runner-up.
Anyways, to wrangle this puppy back on topic, it turns out Uncharted 2 is actually getting some “for realzies” DLC this February 25th. As the previous paragraph needlessly explains, this makes me extremely happy. While the freebie Fort map was fun and the PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack was, um, interesting, I’ve been itching for something more, something like two new maps, six more skins, 12 Trophies, and 12 in-game medals all for $5.99. You can also get just the skins for $2.99 or just the maps for $3.99, but seeing as how I’m way more interested in playing as Atoq Navarro than some no-name Helghast soldier, I’ll probably be springing for the whole caboodle.
Both the maps and the skins will be lifted from the first Uncharted hence being called the Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack. The Sunken Ruins will be based on the customs house battle (you know the one I’m talking about) while the Facility (no relation to GoldenEye 007) will feature the submarine pens where you had to fend off a bunch of soldiers and mutants. The skins will feature Drake, Elena, Navarro, Eddie Raja, Gabriel Roman, and Javier.
You can read about the partially user-inspired Trophies and medals over at IGN’s article. They actually get some time in with Naughty Dog’s multiplayer designer Justin Richmond and get him to talk about the DLC a bit. I actually just got done with a three hour Uncharted 2 co-op session (while listening to Gold Sounds), and thinking about this DLC makes me want to start up again already.
