UK retail behemoth ShopTo.net reckons Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is on track to become the biggest selling game of 2011, with pre-orders having already eclipsed those of Xbox 360 heavy weight, Gears of War 3.
The adventure sequel was announced back in December last year, with a release date pinned down for November 1, 2011 – and if pre-sales are anything to go by, Drake’s latest adventure is already kicking sand in the face of its leading rivals. "The interest in Uncharted 3 is awe-inspiring," commented ShopTo Marketing Manager, Philip Driver.
"We made the game available to pre-order on the site as soon as the release date came through and literally with twenty-four hours it was already in the top ten pre-orders."
"Pre-Orders for Uncharted 3 are still coming in every day, despite it being nearly a year away. As it stands at the moment Drakes Deception has already outsold what is likely to be our other big title of 2011, Gears of War 3."
Uncharted 3 has cheeky chappie Nathan Drake and old chum Victor Sullivan embarking on a globetrotting adventure in search of the mythical Atlantis of the Sands, taking the duo to locations including Paris and the Rub'al Khali desert.
Aside from new locations, developer Naughty Dog has also promised a myriad of fresh ideas, including meatier melee combat, expanded multiplayer and eye-popping visual effects. We’ll have more on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception as it breaks.
