With E3 2011 fast approaching the rumour mills turning at full speed and the big players preparing their keynotes, the inescapable fact is that the gaming public purely wants to see some of the blockbuster titles for this year. One of these blockbusters is Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and if it’s good, it may be able to deflect some of the current negative press surrounding the Sony camp.
The developers of the Uncharted series, Naughty Dog are unlikely to be worrying about the trials and tribulations of the Playstation Network however, they have devoted masses of time and energy to the latest instalment in an attempt to make it more than just another Uncharted game, but a defining moment for the franchise, the genre and the PS3 more widely.
As you may expect from an Uncharted game, the plot weaves in and out of history and mythology, taking the main protagonist, Nathan Drake all over the world. The single player game promises to deliver intrigue, mystery and action whilst improved multiplayer functionality, including team death matches, split screen cooperative mode and character customisation are also expected. It is also expected the Uncharted 3 will be the latest showcase for Sony’s 3D technology, and may even lead to increased adoption amongst gamers.
The multiplayer in particular has been worked on after Naughty Dog were somewhat caught out by the astounding popularity of the multiplayer on Uncharted 2. The development of new systems and physics models has been evident, as Naughty Dog are clearly making multiplayer a key component in the Uncharted formula.
