In other news Nate/Elena have a tumblr account now. So much Pretty for our OTP.
So really, as a means to appease, for those who've purchased the game:
STARTER QUESTIONS! (humor me):
- What do you all think of it so far?
- How is the story and the character progression/development?
- Is Catherine Marlowe the definitive Uncharted villain or just better than her predecessors?
- Is the Online + Multiplayer or Single Player campaign? improved over the previous?
- The 3D? Was it worth it or not?
Overall if you want to use this thread to discuss or gush about the game, you can. Spoilers aren't outlawed, but if you feel the need to warn anyone just leave "SPOILER" in the subject bar of the comments. Apologies about the lack of activity, folks.

Date: 2011-11-10 04:29 am (UTC)It kind of lost the charm, I thought… some parts were great and made me scream/laugh/cry/whatever, but as a whole it was weaker than the first two and just didn’t utilize the great new characters or make a coherent plot as a whole. It felt very… empty, as opposed to Uncharted 2 and 1 when they ended and I felt so happy and accomplished. For 3, I smiled at a few parts at the end cutscene sure, but once it was over it was just like… oh. I never felt like I was fighting for anything important and it was all just such a trite adventure. It breaks my heart to admit this, because the first two games are my fricking lifeblood, but I feel so indifferent towards 3 that to me it isn’t even canon. I prefer for it to end on 2.
I won’t even start on the “revelations” of Nate. It makes me view him completely differently and while the twist(s) was interesting, it just… sort of ruined him in some regard to me.
Overall... very disappointed. I thought the whole thing with Nate and Elena was just sort of weird too. I mean, they ended so happily before -- then suddenly they're right back to how they were at the beginning of 2? I just don't know. It felt like pointless conflict. And there were so many new cool characters -- Talbot, Rameses, Salim, Charlie, but they hardly got any attention or fleshing out. Even Elena and Chloe were shafted, and I can't figure out why. In fact, they didn't even look like themselves, and I couldn't help but think Elena even acted a bit stiff; not at all cute like she was before. :s
And Katherine? I wanted to love her. From the trailers, I did love her. But as soon as I saw her slap Nate in chapter 2, I knew that she wasn't the classy villain I had hoped she would be. She was just a rich woman who wanted what she wanted, and I still don't know why she wanted it in the first place.
I really wish they had put more focus into the single player instead of the multi, like said above. I miss the simplicity of U2's multi, anyways. Now it feels like generic FPS/TPS drivel, not the simplistic, sometimes broken but nevertheless fun multiplayer of 2, and it sucks because I know everyone will migrate to 3 and I won't be able to play with anyone but friends on the rare occasion now. Even the co-op modes in 3, which is what I usually play, are so short and uninspired.
I don't want to seem like a negative nancy because there were parts I liked and I love the series, but... I know ND can do better. It doesn't have the heart the first two did, plain and simple. They just didn't spend enough time developing this one, and I knew that as soon as they announced it. U2 was out only two years ago and people are still discovering that one and enjoying it to death. They should have just let it go for a while and made a better game, because as a diehard fan my heart is broken.

Date: 2011-11-12 06:34 pm (UTC)What did Nate go through all that FOR? Chloe asked him if it was worth it, Elena asked why wasn't it enough just to get that far. We never did get the answer to that.
I mean I sorta see how Marlowe forced Drake to accept that he wasn't a Drake, and how in the end he finally let go of the Drake quest (lost the ring and was okay with it). But...is that what all this was about?

Date: 2011-11-14 05:27 am (UTC)Plus, I found it very unbelievable that a grown man who is of sane mind and who is clearly confident in his abilities would go around telling everyone that Sir Francis Drake is his ancestor for security's sake.
