Release a solid game, and people will buy it. Release a second solid game, and more people will buy it. If you release a third solid game without massive changes (as in “if it’s not broken don’t fix it”), and people will buy it NEW, because nobody’s trading it in. An awesome story, beautiful graphics, fun yet relatively simple gameplay all lead to amazing replay value. Quality catches on and gamers still have money to spend, say what you will about the economy. Just ask Naughty Dog, they’ve more than quadrupled their sales from their first edition.

The Uncharted series has been a staple in the PlayStation3 family since the original release of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in 2007. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves released in 2009, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception released in November of 2011. Drake’s Fortune in its first 10 weeks only sold 281,066 units. Fast forward to 2011, and developer Naughty Dog has struck the very gold hero Nathan Drake is always looking for. The series only gets more popular with each release. According to VGChartz , UC 3: Drake’s Deception retailers have moved 1,269,368 units during its first 10 weeks on the shelf. Even Uncharted 2 sold less in its first 10 weeks, moving “only” 946, 062 units. Money talks. [SOURCE]

Flashback Map Pack #1 – a leading name if I ever saw one – contains upgraded versions of the Fort, Lost City, Cave and Sanctuary maps from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Naughty Dog apparently spent months giving these a bit of spit and polish, adding new lighting, particle, and atmospheric effects – there’s rain, snow, ice, spring vegetation, and even an aurora in the night sky. The pack has been available on the European PSN since mid-January, and the trailer suggests it’s now accessible from the US side, too. It’ll set you back £6.49/€7.99/AUD $12.95. [SOURCE]

Sony’s released the launch trailer for Uncharted: Golden Abyss ahead of its release next week. The trailer’s story-focused and contains a fair bit of gameplay footage. It’s vintage Uncharted stuff with lots of puzzles, climbing and shooting involved. Sony’s lifted the embargo on the reviews of the game, along with the rest of the PS Vita’s launch line-up, as you can see here. Watch the trailer after the break. [SOURCE]
